Eye on Early Childhood is a blog published by Strategies for Children. The blog is your go-to source for information on early childhood issues in Massachusetts, with more than one million views since launching in 2010. We feature the voices of early educators, families, advocates, and policymakers. We cover issues at the local, state, and federal level, and we highlight the people who are working in early childhood and leading the way forward.

Our blogger, Alyssa Haywoode, is a former journalist with 14 years of experience writing editorials for The Des Moines Register and The Boston Globe. She has written our blog since 2013, taking over from Irene Sege, a former Boston Globe journalist as well as Strategies for Children’s former communications director and the blog’s founder. 

Strategies for Children leads the way towards meaningful change in early childhood systems across Massachusetts by connecting people to people, people to policy, and people to power.

For more than two decades, we have been collaboratively advancing early childhood systems through policy development, cross-sectoral advocacy, and strategic implementation of public policy. As we look ahead, we are eager to continue centering the lived experiences of early childhood professionals and families, connecting and convening partners who support bold policy change, and honoring the past as we invest in the future.
