The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) is launching the new Family Child Care (FCC) Capacity Pilot program. It’s an effort to determine the impact of expanding FCC program enrollment from 10 children to 12.

The goal is to expand access for families while maintaining high-quality education and care for children.

The deadline for applying to join the program is Tuesday, June 30, 2026. EEC will send links to the application to all eligible EEC providers.

This week, state officials joined The 9:30 Call to explain how the pilot program will work. Watch the video below or on YouTube.

EEC will use the pilot program to learn about how best to expand. Specifically, EEC hopes to learn about staffing issues, operational challenges, compliance, and the impact of expansion on EEC’s licensors and licensing practices.
