In case you missed it, Massachusetts Attorney General joined The 9:30 Call last December and talked about public policy as well as how her life, her family, and several tragedies inform her work as a lawyer and an advocate for the public.
“I’m born and raised in Boston,” Campbell says in the video. “I went to five BPS schools, including Boston Latin School… I left school, went off to Princeton University and UCLA law school. First in my family actually to attend college and law school and graduate. Brought my happy self back from sunny California to Roxbury and started my career representing children…”
“We have a mental health epidemic in this country and in Massachusetts,” Campbell adds. “We are concerned about access to affordable and accessible and high-quality health care, including… of course, when people are pregnant and carrying children or even if they’re thinking about starting a family. We have so many crises that we want to solve, we have to prioritize young people.”
Campbell discussed Massachusetts’ role in a number of federal lawsuits, and she encouraged everyone to recall their own challenges, how they got through them, and how these experiences built personal strength.
Wrapping up, Campbell said, “I have Muhammad Ali behind me because we punch above our weight. We’re the small state, but we punch above our weight, and we have the history to prove it. Don’t forget that. That should give you inspiration.”
