Get involved in state budget season advocacy

Alyssa Haywoode

January 15, 2026

It’s state budget season, a busy time for early childhood advocates.

By the end of this month, we expect to see Governor Maura Healey release her Fiscal Year 2027 Budget proposal.

Next month, join Strategies for Children and Neighborhood Villages on Zoom, onWednesday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. for an hour-long Budget Breakdown session. You can register here.

We’ll review the Healey-Driscoll’s administration’s FY2027 budget priorities and gain a better understanding of: the Massachusetts state budget process, the impact on funding for early education and care, and what you can do to advocate for a stronger early childhood system across the Commonwealth.

The presentation and conversation will be led by Strategies’ and Neighborhood Village’s staff members. They are:

  • Marisa Fear, Director of Policy, Strategies for Children
  • Latoya Gayle, Senior Director Of Advocacy And Family Partnerships, Neighborhood Villages
  • Elizabeth Leiwant, Vice President Of Public Policy And Research, Neighborhood Villages
  • Shaakira Parker, Early Childhood Policy Pathways Fellow, Strategies For Children, and
  • Emmanuelle Verdieu, Policy Analyst, Neighborhood Villages

Everyone is welcome: early childhood professionals, parents, policymakers, and advocates. Interpretation/translation will be provided from English to Spanish and to Portuguese by Excel Linguistics. This meeting will be recorded and shared on Strategies’ YouTube channel.
