Last month, we blogged about the state’s Family Child Care Facilities grants, the $500 to $25,000 awards that programs can use to improve their physical space and “strengthen their quality and capacity.”

Programs have used the grants to pay for fencing, improved HVAC systems, and making spaces more accessible to children with disabilities.

Now, we’re sharing more about the program.

Family child care providers can apply now for a second round of grant funding. The application deadline is Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

To learn more about this funding opportunity, check out this video of The 9:30 Call to hear Diana Figueroa and Eleni Varitimos, of MassDevelopment, which is one of the grant program’s facilitators, along with the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). The presentation slides are posted here.

Figueroa also talked about the grants on The 9:30 Call en español. The presentation slides in Spanish are posted here.

State officials have shared resources about the program, including this EEC video in English:

Videos are also available in Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and simplified Chinese on the grant information page.

This grant program is helping to strengthen child care programs around the state.
As Governor Maura Healey explained last month in a press release, “We know that too many families are struggling to find local and affordable child care options. That’s why we have been focused on providing capital opportunities that improve and expand care offerings for families. Our Family Child Care Capital Grant Program is already helping 150 small businesses, and this second round of funding will have a significant impact on reducing costs for families and ensuring kids get a high-quality early education.”
